“Madame Butterfly”, “The magic flute”, “Sleeping beauty” or “Romeo and Juliet”, they all belong in the national theatre located at the Max-Joseph-Platz. A visit, be it in the evening or during the day is always worthwhile. This multi-genre theater has been already twice destroyed down to the grounds. After the second world war, the strictly neo-classical building was lavishly reconstructed with an enormous effort. It now houses the center of classical musical culture.
