The Oktoberfest is an institution in the Bavarian State capital since 1810. It gave its name to the location, namely, the Theresienwiese and in return, the Wiesn (meadow) became the nickname for the Festival. Its popularity goes far beyond the limits of Munich, Bavaria and Germany, after all, it is one of the world’s largest folk festivals with around six million visitors. Therefore, even in a metropolis like Munich inexpensive hotel accommodation becomes scarce during the Oktoberfest.
